SF State’s men’s soccer team scored five goals in the second half including four within seven minutes of each other to key their 6-0 win over the visiting Menlo College Oaks (1-2) this afternoon in the Gators’ regular season home opener at Cox Stadium. The Gators kick off their 2010 home schedule with a key west regional battle against Great Northwest Athletic Conference contender and 23rd-ranked Alaska Anchorage on Tuesday, Sept. 7, before hitting the road to open California Collegiate Athletic Association play at Cal Poly Pomona (Sept. 10) and No. 3 Cal State San Bernardino (Sept. 11). Fresh off a pair of hard-fought losses on Friday, the San Francisco State women’s volleyball team bounced back in a big way Saturday, capturing its final two matches at the Seawolf Spike Tournament on the campus of Sonoma State University. In the SF State's women's soccer team's regular season opener, it was the Gators playing to a double overtime scoreless tie with the Western Washington University Vikings (1-0-1) at Chico State's University Field. The Gators had a couple of chances late in regulation to win the game, but could not put the ball in the goal.
