SAN RAMON, Calif. — Six San Francisco State baseball players have been named to the 2018 All-CCAA baseball team. Brady Dorn was named to the First Team, Matthew Hernandez and Jackson Kritsch were named to the Second Team, and Jack Harris, Dillon Houser, and Harley Lopez garnered Honorable Mention.
Dorn was named to the First Team at second base. He is currently fourth in the CCAA with a .371 batting average, and leads the team with 35 RBIs, 95 bases, and 13 doubles. He has started 45 games and is second on the team with 66 hits and 34 runs. He also shares the team lead with 20 walks.
Hernandez becomes a two-time CCAA honoree as a starting pitcher. After striking out a career-high 12 in a 4-1 win at No. 7 UC San Diego, Hernandez was named NCBWA Division II West Region and CCAA Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb. 12-18. The senior stands at a 3.17 career ERA and 147 career strikeouts, which is tied for third-all time in program history, including 82 this season, which are fourth most in a single season by an SF State pitcher.
Kritsch earned Second Team honors at shortstop. The sophomore is hitting .360, second-highest on the team, and leads the team with 71 hits, 43 runs, and 10 stolen bases. His 49 appearances and 48 starts are second most on the team.
Harris has started all 50 games this season with seven home runs and a .495 slugging percentage, which both lead the team. He is hitting .288 and also shares the team lead with 20 walks. The speedy outfielder is tied for the team lead with 13 doubles and is second on the team with 40 runs scored.
Houser is a team-best 6-3 this season and is tied for seventh on the Gators career wins list with 13. The Gators starter is second on the team with 76 innings pitched and has struck out a career-high 57 batters this season.
Lopez earns an all-conference nod as a utility player. The first baseman/left fielder is third on the team with a .316 batting average. He is second on the team with six homer runs and 34 RBIs. He also shares the team lead with 20 walks. Lopez has also made two appearances on the mound this season with one strikeout.
This is the sixth consecutive season that San Francisco State has had at least two players selected to the all-conference team. The Gators made history on the final day of the season by punching their ticket to their first-ever CCAA Championships appearance under third-year Head Coach Tony Schifano. San Francisco State will face No. 15 Cal State Monterey Bay on Wednesday, May 9 at 11 a.m. in the first round of the CCAA Championships.
