SAN RAMON, Calif. – San Francisco State junior
Karla Soto has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Pitcher of the Week for March 12-18.
Soto went a perfect 3-0 this past weekend as the Gators swept host Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Calexico, California native tossed two complete games, including an eight-inning comeback victory on Friday. Soto tossed 16.2 innings and allowed just six earned for a 2.52 ERA.
Soto becomes the fourth CCAA Pitcher of the Week honoree in Gator history, and the first since 2016 when
Megan Clark took home the plaudit.
Katie Rohrer was named Player of the Week earlier this season, giving the Gators both a Player and Pitcher of the Week winner in the same season for the first time in program history.
Next up for the Gators is the Tournament of Champions, which kicks off this Friday at 12:30 p.m. as SF State battles Concordia (Calif.) before taking on Montana State Billings at 3 p.m.
