SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco State senior guard
Warren Jackson has been named an NCAA Division II Preseason All-American by
Basketball Times.
This is the second preseason nod for Jackson, who was also named an NCAA Division II Preseason All-America Honorable Mention by
Street and Smith's Basketball (formerly
Sporting News Yearbooks).
Last season, Jackson was named a 2017 Division II All-America Honorable Mention by Division II Bulletin, the monthly newsletter of Division II men's basketball. He was also named to 2017 NABC Coaches' Division II All-District West Region First Team, the CCA Men's Basketball All-West Region Second Team, and All-CCAA First Team. The Detroit native was also a two-time CCAA Player of the Week selection this season. Jackson averaged 17.2 points – second-highest in the CCAA, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game in all 28 games for SF State. Jackson shot 50 percent from the field, 45.4 percent from deep, and 85.2 percent from the free throw line. He scored a career-high 35 points in the final regular-season game of the year, a win at Humboldt State.
The No. 22 Gators finished with a 25-6 record, the best mark in the program's modern era and the most since the 1939-40 season. The Gators were ranked as high as No. 13 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1993-94. SF State appeared in the NABC poll in all but two weeks of the season, reaching as high as No. 13. The Gators also finished second in the CCAA and advanced to the CCAA Tournament Championship.
The 2017-18 season begins Friday, Nov. 10 at noon versus Academy of Art.
