SAN FRANCSICO--- At this past Sunday's SF State baseball game with CSU San Bernardino, the Gators hosted members of the San Carlos Wolves U9 Little League Team. The members of the Wolves joined the Gators on the field during starting line-ups and the National Anthem.
“This was a nice day to expose the youngsters to the collegiate baseball game,” said SF State Head Coach
Mike Cummins. “It was also great for our guys to relate back to when they were that age starting the game they are playing now.”
Besides joining the Gators on the field, the Wolves were given autographs and members of both teams' coaching staffs spoke to the youngsters prior to the game.
“This was a great opportunity for us to give back to the community,” said SF State freshman catcher/designated hitter
Mark Lindsay. “It was great to see all the smiles on the Wolves when we giving them our autographs.”
SF State will return to the diamond this weekend for the final time this weekend when the Gators face Cal State East Bay in a four-game conference series. The series will begin this Monday, May 4 at 3pm at SF State's Maloney Field for a single nine-inning game. The weekend series will then move to Hayward, Calif., for a 11am starting doubleheader this Saturday. The series finale will be on Sunday, May 6 at 11am for an 11am starting single game at SF State's Maloney Field. Prior to the game, the Gators will recognize both teams' seniors in a brief ceremony.
