Albright, Herndon and Otiono Named to Carl's Jr Mac Martin Invitational All-Tournament Team

James Albright Was Named The Tournament MVP at the Carl's Jr. Mac Martin Invitational Averaging 17.5 ppg and Shooting 70% from the Field
CHICO, Calif.— The trio of James Albright, Robbie Herndon and Calvin Otiono were named to the All-Tournament Team at the Carl's Jr. Mac Martin Invitational in Chico, Calif., this past weekend.  Albright was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player as he averaged 17.5 points in the Gators' two games and connected on 70% of his attempts from the field in leading SF State to the tournament title.
 
Albright started the weekend scoring a team high 14 points as he went 5-for-8 from the field and a perfect four-for-four from the charity stripe as the Gators defeated No. 7 Seattle Pacific 60-55 this past Friday evening.  Then on Saturday evening, the senior post player scored a season high 21 points and grabbed four rebounds in playing a key role in the Gators' 69-66 come-from-behind win over UC-Colorado Springs.
 
For the season, Albright is averaging 10.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game while starting in all four games.  He is also shooting 55% from the field and is a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
 
Herndon scored 13 points in the Gators' win over Seattle Pacific on Friday.  He was 5-for-10 from the field including 2-for-4 from three-point land.  The sophomore guard grabbed three rebounds and dished out one assist while recording one steal.  Then on Saturday, Herndon scored 19 points connecting on 6 of his 11 attempts from the field while going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.  He also was a perfect four-for-four from free throw line and also dished out two assists, grabbed one rebound and recorded a steal.

For the weekend, he averaged 16.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals in the Gators' two games while shooting 52% from the field and 62.5% from three's.  Herndon also was 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.  After this weekend's two games, Herndon is averaging a team high 17.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while dishing out 6 assists and recording five steals.  He also is shooting 47% from the field, 37% from three's and 81% from the line.

Otiono averaged 7.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 assists per game this past weekend.  He also shot 45.5% from the field and was a prefect four-for-four from the line.  He started the weekend scoring 6 points, dishing out four assists and grabbing 5 rebounds against Seattle Pacific.  Then on Saturday against UC-Colorado Springs, Otiono scored 8 points, had three assists, three steals and three rebounds. 
 
For the season, the junior point guard is averaging 12.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while dishing out 10 assists and recording 10 steals.  Otiono is shooting 53% from the field and 77% from the line.
 
Other members of the All-Tournament Team were:  David Downs (Seattle Pacific), Darius Pardner (UC-Colorado Springs), Damario Sims (Chico State) and Jobi Wall (Seattle Pacific).

SF State (2-2) will host two California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) games this weekend at The Swamp.  On Friday, the Gators will host Cal State East Bay in their home opener.  Then on Saturday, SF State will host Cal St. Monterey Bay.  Tip-off for both evenings is set for 7:30 pm PST.
