Griffin Reilly has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 2-8, as announced Monday by the conference office.
Reilly averaged 14.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and two blocked shots per game in the Gators' 2-0 weekend. He recorded his third and fourth double-doubles of the season in leading SF State to their victories over Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay.
The San Jose native started the weekend scoring 11 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the Gators' 92-82 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on January 5. Reilly also dished out a season-high six assists and had two blocked shots in helping SF State snap their four-game losing streak.
Then on Saturday, Reilly came back and scored 17 points and grabbed a season high 16 rebounds in the Gators' 78-72 win over Cal State East Bay. He also had two blocked shots as SF State snapped the Pioneers two-game winning streak.
For the season, Reilly is averaging 9.2 points and a team high 7.0 rebounds per game. He also has connected on a team best 25 three-point field goals made. Reilly is currently tied for fifth in the CCAA in rebounding and three-point field goals made per game.
SF State returns to action Thursday when it travels to Rohnert Park to take on Sonoma State at 7:30 p.m. This will be the beginning of a season-long five-game road trip for the Gators.
