ATHERTON, Calif. – The San Francisco State wrestling team kicked off its 2011-12 dual-meet schedule in impressive fashion Friday, defeating McKendree (Ill.) 32-10 and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical (Ariz.) 27-11 in a pair of neutral-site matches at Haynes-Prim Pavilion on the campus of Menlo College.
 
The Gators (2-0) captured 14 of a combined 20 bouts on the day, including Julian Perez (133) who recorded a 15-0 victory by technical fall against Dylan Viglasky of McKendree, followed by a second-period pin of Embry-Riddle's Mason Saldana at 4:50 in the nightcap.
 
Two SF State grapplers kept their unblemished records in tact Friday as Isaiah Jimenez (165) improved to 6-0 on the young season, claiming a 6-2 triumph in the opening dual over Tim Gilbert of McKendree, before knocking off ERAU's Luke Riley by a nearly identical tally of 6-3.  Anthony Gonzalez (285), meanwhile, moved to 5-0 on the year with a 5-2 triumph over Ross Janney of McKendree and later picked up a forfeit against Embry-Riddle.
 
Other double winners for the Purple and Gold included Daniel Flores (141), Dylan Phillipy (149) and Andrew Reggi (197), while Matt Negrete (174) captured his fourth straight with an 8-6 decision over ERAU's Jose Cruz in his lone bout of the day.
 
SF State returns to Atherton on Saturday for the Menlo Invitational, scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
