SAN FRANCISCO – A total of 31 San Francisco State students received scholar-athlete recognition in a special reception held earlier this week on campus at Seven Hills Conference Center. Gator Athletics academic coordinator David Woo served as the master of ceremonies for the annual event, which featured an ice cream social for over 60 guests.
Director of Athletics Dr. Michael J. Simpson presented the awards in front of a prolific audience of SF State coaches, faculty and administrators, including Dr. Penny Saffold, vice-president for student affairs; Joseph Greenwell, acting associate vice-president for student affairs and LEAD director; Evelyn Hooker, executive assistant to the vice-president and Jo Volkert, associate vice-president for enrollment management.
SF State baseball's Drew Andersen was one of 31 Gators honored as scholar-athletes at Monday's reception.
To be eligible for scholar-athlete status, candidates must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher for two consecutive semesters.
