Pat Haugen Is the First Gator Named to the ABCA All-West Region First Team Since 2004

MT. PLEASANT, Mich.--- SF State’s senior pitcher Pat Haugen (Cayucos, California, Cuesta College)was named to his third All-Region Team in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/NCAA All-West Region First Team. Earlier this month, Haugen was selected to the Daktronics, Inc. All-West Region Second Team and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-West Region First Team.
 
Haugen is the first Gators named to the ABCA/NCAA Division II All-West Region First Team since AJ Biama was named to the First Team in 2004. That year the Gators also had three players named to the Second Team in Rich Daly, Carlos Medina, and Robert Torres. 
 
He finished the season with an 8-4 overall record while posting a team low 2.53 earned run average. Haugen struck out 114 batters and walked just 31 in 92.1 innings pitched. The 2010 SF State Male Athlete of the Year appeared in 19 games while starting 11. He pitched nine complete games including two shutouts. The Cayucos, California, native was named to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) First Team.
 
His 114 strikeouts this past season broke the SF State single season strikeouts record and also are currently third in the nation. Besides recording 8 victories this season, he had two saves for the Gators, who finished the season with a 22-32 record including going 15-25 in CCAA games. 
 
Haugen also was the Gold Glove recipient for the Region as the top fielding pitcher in the region. He had a 1.000 fielding percentage with three putouts and 21 assists with no errors.
