Both Dalbey and Musika Heading to North Carolina

Tyler Dalbey Has Qualfied for the National With Her Time of 1:00.93 in the 400 Hurdles

CHARLOTTE---- SF State track athletes Tyler Dalbey (Petaluma, Calif., Santa Rosa JC) and Luisa Musika (Milpitas, Calif., Milpitas HS) have qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 27-29 at the Irwin Belk Complex on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. Dalbey qualified with her time of 1:00.93 in the 400 hurdles while Musika qualified with her throw of 149-10 in the discus.
 
Dalbey goes into the championship field with the 12th-fastest time in the 400 hurdles with Angelo State’s Aisha Adams leading the pack with her time of 57.94. The senior hurdler will run in the preliminaries on Thursday, May 27 at 8:10pm ET with the finals set for 8:01pm ET on Saturday, May 29. She qualified with her school record time at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on April 23 on the campus of the University of California-Berkeley.
 
Earlier this month, Dalbey earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors by finishing in second place in the 400 hurdles at the CCAA Championships on the campus of UC San Diego in La Jolla. 
 
Musika is heading to the nationals for the second year in a row as she was an All-American last year in the discus, finishing in sixth place with a throw of 147-05. She enters the field this season with the 15th-longest mark in the discus with a throw of 149-10 while Winona State’s Mary Theisen leads the field her throw of 161-11.

Musika Has Qualfied For the Nationals for the Second Consecutive Season
 
The sophomore thrower earned her qualifying mark at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational on April 9 in Los Angeles. She finished in second place with the school record mark of 149-10. Earlier this month, Musika earned All-CCAA honors in the discus, shot put, and hammer. She won the discus with a mark of 147-11 and was second in the shot put (44-8.25) and third in the hammer (155-10). Musika also is a two-time recipient of the CCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week this season.
 
She will compete in the finals of the discus on May 29 at 4:30pm Eastern Time. 
 
The Gators enter the National Championships ranked ninth in the 2010 USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II West Region Team Week #7 Index. UC San Diego is first followed by Seattle Pacific, Chico State, Cal State LA, and Western Washington. Rounding out the top 10 is Cal State Dominguez Hills, Alaska-Anchorage, SF State, and Western Oregon.
