NEW ORLEANS---- The SF State women’s track and field team moved up one spot in this week’s 2010 USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field West Regional Team Week #6 Index. The Gators are now eighth after being ninth for the past three weeks. SF State is coming off a fourth place performance at the 2010 CCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, their highest finish since 1999.
The Gators also had three All-CCAA performers in five events in
Luisa Musika (Milpitas, Calif., Milpitas HS),
Tyler Dalbey (Petaluma, Calif., Santa Rosa JC), and
Lindsay Machado (Placerville, Calif., El Dorado HS). Musika captured the discus title with her mark of 147-11 while she finished in second in the shot put with a throw of 44-8.25 and third in the hammer with a mark of 155-10. Dalbey earned All-CCAA honors by finishing second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:01.47 while Machado was All-CCAA in the discus with a second place throw of 141-00.
Three SF State track athletes also have provisionally qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships over Memorial Day weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. They will find out a week from today if their marks or times qualify them for the Nationals. The three athletes are Musika, Dalbey, and
Brittany Garrett (Hoover, Ala., Univ. of Southern Mississippi).
Musika has provisionally qualified in two events in the discus and shot put. The 2009 All-American is currently 13th in the discus with her mark of 149-10 at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational and she is 24th in the shot put with her throw of 44-8.25 in the shot put at the CCAA Championships.
Dalbey is currently 10
th in the 400 hurdles with her time of 1:00.93, which she achieved at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational while Garrett is 22
nd in the 5,000 meter run with her time of 16:59.96, which she ran also at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational.
