SAN FRANCISCO--- The SF State men's soccer team finished their 2010 Spring Season with a 3-0-2 record including defeating NCAA Division I, the University of San Francisco 4-1. SF State also defeated its Alumni and Dominican while tying with Notre Dame de Namur and Sonoma State.
Gabriel Chavez (Santa Paula, California, Santa Paula) led the Gators with his three goals while
Antonio Ugarte (Danville, Calforna, San Ramon Valley )scored twice and
Sasha Chalak (Concord, California, Acalanes),
Edgar Villagrana (Pittsburg, California, Pittsburg), and
Manny Murillo (Norwalk, California, John Glenn)each added a goal apiece.
"The team has really responded, they have excellent fitness, a good spirit, and are playing very well as a collective group," said SF State Head Coach Joe Hunter. "Antonio Ugarte,
Andrew Chansky (Temecula, California, Chaparral ), and
Eric Scolman (Oceanside, California, Oceanside)have really progressed this spring," added Hunter. "I look forward to next fall with all the returning players competing along with our excellent recruiting class," noted the Gator coach. "Our final 26 players will be very exciting and a fine group to be associated with."
Adding assists for the Gators were; Chavez, Villagrana, and
Charles Conway (Albuquerque, New Mexico, University of New Mexico) while
Mike McNeill (Oakdale, California, Cal State Stanislaus), Eric Scolman, and
Thomas Comer (Danville, California, San Ramon Valley) all saw action in goal for SF State.
SF State will hold its annual 7v7 Tournament this Saturday. The Gators will begin their 2010 season at home on September 6th at 3pm against the Menlo College Oaks.
