SAN FRANCISCO---- The SF State men’s basketball team finished the season 24th in the nation out of over 300 Division II institutions that sponsor men’s basketball in scoring defense allowing their opponents just 63.5 points per game. The Gators finished the 2009-10 season with a 17-14 overall record and made their third straight appearance in the CCAA Basketball Championships also had their third straight non-losing season.
Texas Permian Basin led the nation with its 56.2 opponents per game average. SF State also finished 45th in the nation with its three-point field goal percentage defense of allowing its opponents to just 32.6 three-point field goal percentage defense.
In the last California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) statistics report that was released this past Monday, the Gators were ranked in the top five in the conference in ten team categories. They were fourth in scoring, scoring margin, and blocked shots. SF State also was fifth in field goal percentage defense, rebounding margin, assists, steals, turnover margin, assist/turnover ratio, and three-point field goals made per game.
Five Gators also finished the season in 11 individual categories. CCAA Newcomer of the Year,
Marquel Hoskins (Beloit, Wisconsin, Reedley College), finished in the top 15 in six categories. He was second in steals, third in assists, fifth in scoring, 8
th in assist/turnover ratio, 11
th in rebounding, and 13
th in field goal percentage. Junior guard
Phoenix O'Rourke (San Mateo, California, Junipero Serra) finished in the top 30 in four categories. O’Rourke was third in three-point field goals made per game, fifth in steals, 15
th in three-point field goal percentage, and 29
th in scoring.

Derek Fletcher (San Jose, California, Branham) was second in the CCAA in blocked shots and 17
th in rebounding while junior post player
Tim Pratt (Eureka, California, College of the Redwoods) finished 15
th in blocked shots and 18
th in scoring and freshman guard
Nefi Perdomo (Oakland, California, Skyline )was 13
th in three-point field goal percentage and 15
th in scoring.

e season lists. Fletcher’ 36 blocked shots ties him for fifth with Everett Johnson while Hoskins’ 138 assists places him second. O’Rourke’s 64 three-point field goals made this season ties with Mike Dyer for third all-time and his 187 three-point field goals attempted places him second.
Two Gators also moved up the career lists ladder in four categories. O’Rourke is now sixth on the three-point field goals made list with 118 and is third with 360 three-point field goals attempted. Fletcher is second on the blocked shots’ career list with 80 and is third with 524 rebounds.
