Donisha Tate Named to All-CCAA First Team

Donisha Tate Was Selected to the 2009-10 All-CCAA First Team

WALNUT CREEK----  As announced by the California College Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), SF State senior post player Donisha Tate (Oakland, California, Las Posita College) was selected to the First Team All-CCAA as voted on by the league's 12 head coaches.

 

Tate leads the Gators with her 11.9 scoring and 11.7 rebounding average as she recorded a league high 15 double-doubles this season.  She also shot 44.7% from the field an also dished out 42 assists, recorded 42 steals, and blocked 16 shots this season in 30 games. 

 

Earlier this season, she was named to the 2009 Disney Classic Division II Tip-Off West Coast Classic in Anaheim, California.  This season she had season highs of 23 points at Cal State Stanislaus (January 29), 20 rebounds vs. Southern Indiana (October 31), 5 assists vs. Cal State Dominguez Hills (February 13), four steals vs. Dominican (December 12), and two blocked shots (three times).  Her 23 points, 20 rebounds, and five assists were also career marks for Tate.

 

In the recent CCAA statistics report that was released earlier this week, Tate is first in rebounding, 8th in field goal percentage, 11th in scoring, and 13th in scoring.  Tate is 8th with her 561 career rebounds on the Gators' all-time career lists and her 351 rebounds this season is third on SF State's single-season list.

 

Tate played a major role in the Gators finishing the season with a 15-15 overall record with an 11-11 record in CCAA games.  SF State won seven of its last ten games to finish in sixth place in the CCAA and to qualify for the CCAA Basketball Championships for the third straight season.  The Gators finished in sixth place and will travel to Chico, California, for a First Round game with Chico State this evening with a scheduled tip-off of 7pm.

 

UC San Diego's Chelsea Carlisle was named the conference's MVP while Cal State East Bay's Lauren Lucchesi was Freshman of the Year and Cal State Stanislaus' Alishea Kelly was Newcomer of the Year.  CCAA Coach of the Year went to UC San Diego's Charity Elliott for the second straight year.
