SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State women's track and field squad received a No. 5 ranking in the NCAA Division II West Region, according to the latest indoor poll released this week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Fellow California Collegiate Athletic Association member Cal State L.A. tops this week's regional poll with 409.64 points, followed by Seattle Pacific (408.27 pts.), Western Washington (353.71 pts.), Northwest Nazarene (267.50 ps.) and the Gators (185.63 pts.).
SF State has been idle since Jan. 23, when it competed at the Cherry and Silver Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. At that meet, sophomore
Luisa Musika (Milpitas, Calif., Milpitas HS) set a 2010 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the weight throw with a career-best distance of 53 feet, 1.50 inches, which ranks second on the school's all-time indoor performance list.
The Gators resume their indoor schedule on Saturday, Feb. 6, when they head back to Albuquerque to participate in the New Mexico Classic.
