Sacramento, Calif.--- Participating in their final outdoor meet of the 2009 season, two SF State Gator track athletes placed in the top five in three events at the 2009 Sacramento State Open at the Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State University in Sacramento this afternoon.
Alicia Chambers (Roseville, Calif., Oakmont HS)led the way with her third place time of 12.20 in the 100 meter dash. She also finished in fifth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.00.
Freshman thrower
Luisa Musika (Milpitas, Calif., Milpitas HS) had two NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship provisional qualifying marks, but did not improve her marks from earlier this season.
Musika placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45-5.75 (13.25 meters) and also had a sixth place throw of 147-02 (44.85 meters). Earlier this season at the Gator Preview on March 7, she throw the shot put 13.43 meters which places her 22
nd in the nation. Then on April 11 at the Chico Twilights,
Musika had a throw of 45.38 meters in the discus which she is 11
th in the nation going into this weekend.
The 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship committee will announces its field for the championships sometime late afternoon this Monday, May 11. For updated performance list, please click

Carrie Thomas (Fremont, Calif., Milpitas HS)also participated in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. She finished eighth in the 200 with a time of 25.75 and 11
th in the 100 with a time of 12.67.
Sheila Cleland (Union City, Calif., Chabot College) had a 10
th place throw of 135-0 in the hammer for the Gators.
