San Francisco, Calif.---
Luisa Musika (Milpitas, Calif., Milpitas HS) provisionally qualified for the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a first place of 13.43 in the shot put. This mark also ties her for the second best mark in the shot put in school history.
Musika also placed second in the discus (37.98 meters), and 12
th in the hammer throw (36.48 meters).
“Overall this was solid opening for the team and we couldn't have asked for better conditions,” said SF State Head Track & Field Coach Terry Burke. “Luisa's shot mark was clearly the highlight of the meet and incredible performance and it's even more impressive when you consider that it was over a two foot improvement over her previous best mark,” added Burke. “Having such a great put this early bodes very well for not only a great season, but a great career at SF State.'
Freshman
Meagen Moiola (Morro Bay, Calif., Morro Bay HS) had a second place jump of 5-4 in the high jump while teammate
Felicia Terwilliger (Eureka, Calif., West Warwich (Rhode Island))was right behind her with a jump of 5-2.
Sheila Cleland (Union City, Calif., Redwood Christian HS) had three top 15 finishes in the hammer (4
th-43.15 meters), shot put (10
th-10.04 meters), discus (10
th-32.90 meters), and 11
th in the javelin (24.20 meters).

SF State will return to the track a week from today, March 14, when they travel to Davis, California, to participate in the Aggie Open on the campus of UC Davis.
