Chico, Calif.--- SF State's women's track and field team began its 2009 outdoor season this afternoon participating in the Wildcats Relays in Chico, California, hosted by Chico State University. The Gators participated in three events in the 3000 meter run, shot put, and discus. Luisa Musika (Milpitas, Calif., Milpitas HS) had two top five finishes with a third place mark of 124-08 in the discus and a fourth place throw of 39-4 in the shot put.

            SF State also had three top finishers in the 3000 meter run in Vera Ross (Oakland, Calif., Diablo Valley College) (8^th, 11:12.24), Claire Fleming (Trabuco Hills, Calif.) (9^th, 11:17.51), and Lisa Herrera (Live Oak HS)(10^th, 11:21.43). As a team, the Gators finished in eighth place with 8 points while Chico State won the event with 218 points. The Gators will return to the track a week from today, when they host the Gator Preview at Cox Stadium beginning at 9am on the campus of SF State.
