STARKVILLE, Miss.--- Three SF State Gator softball players have been named 2008-09 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athletes as announced by the national office earlier this month.
Carolyn Knudson (Napa, California, Vintage),
Ashley Jackson (Vallejo, California, St. Patrick's-St. Vincent), and
Danielle Chapman (San Jose, California, Westmont) were the three Gators named NFCA Scholar-Athletes.
To qualify for NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors, players must maintain a 3.5 grade point average throughout the year.
All three Gators were also named to the 2008-09 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic Team this past year.
Jackson, who also was an All-CCAA selection, finished the season with a 16-11 record with 122 strikeouts and only 55 walks while posting a 2.02 earned run average. The Vallejo, Calif., native also was named to the
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII Team.

Danielle Chapman Earlier This Year was named to the Academic All-CCAA Team
Chapman finished her senior season batting .357 with 12 doubles and 65 hits, while Knudson batted .316 with a .458 on-base percentage.
